Configuring COMM PORT

If using MIXW

Launch the software.

When running the software for the first time, you will be presented with a setup box; simply add your call sign, name and location, also locator, click OK.

Click on “CONFIGURE”, then click on “TRCVR CAT/PTT”.

Select your radio and model.

In the PTT and CAT Interface box should be your COMM PORT number, if it is NONE or the incorrect port click on the button marked DETAILS. This opens the COMM PORT window, the first box is marked PORT, click on the down arrow on this box, this opens and shows a number of comm ports.  You will notice that against some comm port number/s an asterisk * is present, this shows AVAILABLE active comm ports.  Select the relevant comm port and click  OK.  This brings you back to the PTT & CAT window, make sure that “SAVE ON FREQUENCY” and PTT via CAT Command is checked, also make sure that there is NO check mark in the COMM PORT disabled box.  Click OK to finish. If you do not know your COMM PORT number see the next section.

You can check to see if the software activates the Interface by clicking on OPTIONS and then clicking on TUNE TRANSMITTER;  if the COMM PORT has been correctly selected the RED LED on the Interface should illuminate and, if your radio is switched on, it should go into TX.  To return to RX mode simply press the ‘esc’ key on your keyboard twice, the Interface should then go into RX mode.

If Using Ham Radio Deluxe/Digital Master 780.

The help file does not include setting up Ham Radio Deluxe, you will need to look elsewhere, I will try to include this at a later time.

Digital master 780 is included in the excellent program of HAM RADIO DELUXE.

This is how I have set Digital Master780 up.

1.    First install Ham Radio Deluxe.

2.   Go into my computer navigate to the directory where HRD is located.....Local disk C:/program files/amateur radio/ham radio deluxe/  find the icon  place your mouse pointer on it and right click. Next, click create shortcut, you will then see copy this to your desktop.

3.   Launch Digital master 780 (This launches the digital mode software without launching HRD).

4.   Click F8, this opens program options

Select the Tab PTT

The below window will open

Enter your comm port number, close the box

To test the TX, make sure the radio is switched off, click the macro marked CQ, if the comm port is selected correctly the interface should go into TX, it will go into RX as soon as the macro has finished sending its contents.

This concludes comm port set up.
